Description
Description of the new feature / enhancement
The current Windows Alt+Tab experience, while functional, lacks flexibility for power users and developers.
Navigation is linear: Cycling through a large grid of open windows using only Tab or Arrow Keys requires moving the hand away from the home row or repeated key presses.
UI is rigid: Users cannot customize the appearance (density, size, transparency) of the switcher to fit a minimalist or high-density workflow.
1. Vim-style Navigation
Allow users to navigate the window grid using Vim keys while holding Alt:
H: Left
J: Down
K: Up
L: Right
This allows developers to switch windows rapidly without their fingers leaving the home row, similar to how tiling window managers (like i3 or bspwm) operate on Linux.
2. Customizable UI / Theming
Provide a section to customize the visual aspect of the switcher:
Layouts: Option to switch between Grid, List, or Compact Text-Only modes.
Density: Adjustable padding and thumbnail size.
Styling: Custom opacity, borders, or "Fluent Design" toggles.
What do you think?
Scenario when this would be used?
Current behavior: Alt + Tab... wait... Down Arrow... Enter.
Proposed behavior: Alt + j -> move to next window vertically or any vim key.
